SESSION 1 – Africa Leaders’ Dialogue: Navigating Geopolitical and Geoeconomic Change—Africa’s Strategic Choices for Sustainable Development (45 MINUTES)
As the international order undergoes profound geopolitical and geoeconomic transformation, African governments are confronted with increasingly complex choices regarding trade, investment, natural resource governance, regional integration and institutional development. This high-level Leaders’ Dialogue brings together distinguished policymakers and institutional leaders to examine how African States can strengthen governance, safeguard national interests, deepen intra-African economic integration and build the legal and institutional capacity required to compete effectively in a rapidly evolving global landscape. Drawing on perspectives from government, regional economic policy, natural resource governance and international legal institutions, the discussion will explore practical pathways for advancing sustainable development, economic resilience and Africa’s long-term strategic interests.

SESSION 2 –The role of International Law in a Fragmenting World (45 MINUTES)
As the international system becomes increasingly shaped by geopolitical rivalry, geoeconomic competition and competing visions of global governance, fundamental questions are being asked about the continuing relevance and effectiveness of international law. Can international law continue to provide a stable framework for cooperation, peaceful dispute resolution and sustainable development, or must it evolve to reflect new political and economic realities? This session brings together leading scholars and practitioners to examine how international law can respond to an increasingly fragmented world while remaining an effective instrument for promoting peace, prosperity, justice and inclusive development. Particular attention will be given to the future of international economic law, sustainable development and the institutions that underpin the rules-based international order.
