The Global Transformations and Governance Challenges Initiative at Leiden University announces a new call for papers for an interdisciplinary workshop on:

The Promise and Perils of Human Rights for Governing Digital Platforms

As the policy arena of digital platform governance becomes increasingly centred on human rights-based approaches, this workshop invites critical (self-)reflection on the potential and perils of human rights as a vocabulary of governance in this context.

The aim is to foster an interdisciplinary exchange with leading experts from diverse academic disciplines and communities of practice, including but not limited to the fields of ethics and (political) philosophy, anthropology, and (international) law.

The two-day workshop will be hybrid and take place on 18 and 19 January 2024.

Applicants are invited to submit a non-anonymized abstract (maximum 300 words) in PDF format by email to digitalrightsplatforms@gmail.com no later than 30 September 2023.

Full project description and call for papers are accessible here.
