The Chair for Civil Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law at the Leibniz University Hannover offers the opportunity to complete a doctorate/Ph.D. in law, under the supervision of Professor Volker Wiese, and therefor seeks to recruit as soon as possible a Research Assistant to equally cooperate with the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2052 “Africa multiple” and dealing with the topic “Multiplicity in Decision Making in Africa’s Interacting Markets“. This topic aims at an analysis of the role and competence of the judiciary and the functioning of Community Law in economic communities such as COMESA, EAC, SADC, AfCFTA and/or OHADA. The research will be conducted mainly in English; proficiency in French and/or German is instrumental, but not required.

The position is subject to the conditions of Hannover’s university regulations applicable to dissertations in law (Promotionsordnung der Juristischen Fakultät). Having graduated from a non-German institution, you would need, in principle, a university degree that parallels an adequately graded German law exam and that can be accredited in Germany. Further details can be provided upon inquiry. The monthly salary before tax will amount to approx. EUR 3,000
