The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition is a global competition organised by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) with technical support from the World Trade Organization (WTO). It simulates a hearing of the WTO dispute settlement system, intending to enhance the knowledge of international trade law and WTO dispute settlement procedures and enhance the capacity for meaningful engagement in multilateral trade in the long term.

The teams analyse a fictive case and present their Written Submissions for each party. Following this, all teams are allocated to one of our six Regional Rounds worldwide, during which they present their Oral Pleadings and are scored on their oral advocacy skills. Based on their performance in the Written Submissions and Regional Rounds, the best teams will compete in the Final Oral Round at the WTO headquarters in Geneva.

This year, the African Regional Round is being organised by the UPSA Law School in Accra, Ghana, with the support of the University of Ghana School of Law and the KNUST Faculty of Law. We encourage those interested in participating to visit johhnhjacksonmoot.elsa.org and sign up before the 12th of December 2022 to compete!

We are also currently looking for legal professionals interested in participating as panellists. If you are interested in participating, send your CV and Cover letter to johnhjackson@elsa.org.

We look forward to seeing you in Accra, Ghana in March!
