We are delighted to welcome you to 2021 as we outline our plans for the next several weeks.
This month, we will formally launch the African Sovereign Debt Justice Network, (AfSDJN), and a new layout for the website. The AfSDJN will be launched on January 26, 2020. Details will be forthcoming soon.
In terms of content, this month we shall release a new Indaba featuring the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Prof. Michael Fakhri. That indaba (or discussion of an important issue) was conducted with our Editor, Dr. Titilayo Adebola.
A U.S./Kenya FTA Webinar is planned in the next several weeks. That Webinar will be hosted together with Public Citizen. A written symposium will be published contemporaneously with that Webinar.
In terms of analysis, we will publish the following written symposia, book review symposia and other blog content in the next few weeks:
In addition, on the 19th of January, 2021 we will co-host a book launch of the book, The Performance of Africa’s International Courts: Using Litigation for Political, Legal and Social Change, OUP, (2020) edited by our Editor, James Gathii. Click here to register for the launch.

Finally, after delays occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, on January 1, 2021, trading under the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) was launched by the AfCFTA Secretariat. We congratulate the African Union and all who have been involved in this historic moment. We will continue to generate research that would support the progressive implementation of the AfCFTA among other important initiatives of the African Union.
We thank our readers and contributors for their continued support. This space belongs to all of us as we look forward to many more fruitful contributions and collaborations in 2021. As always, we welcome new ideas on symposia and blog posts.

- We will continue to highlight the articles published in the inaugural issue of the African Journal of International Economic Law (AfJIEL). Since our goal is to make sure the AfJIEL is read especially in African law schools, we continue to encourage our readers to let those they are in contact with know about it.
- If you missed the launch of the AfJIEL, please look out for the video which we will be posting on our YouTubeChannel shortly.
- Upcoming individual blog posts include will focus on Chinese investments in Africa and law teaching in times of a global pandemic.

- A Symposium on Central Banking and Neoliberal Economics convened by Dr. Dunia Prince Zongwe of Walter Sisulu University, South Africa
- A Symposium on trade facilitation convened by Dennis Ndonga of Murdoch University, Perth Australia
- A Symposium on Decolonizing the Franc Zone convened by Afronomicslaw Contributing Editor, Regis Simoof the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa.
