We invite submission of paper proposals addressing the general theme of the conference from economic, legal, and political perspectives. The conference and the subsequent publication will provide a platform for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to engage in a constructive and informed debate on the different strategies pursued by Europe and China in Africa, and their impact on the continent's development, governance, and security.

Africa, a continent brimming with potential, is at a crucial crossroads amidst a confluence of crises that challengeits socioeconomic fabric. The launching of the operational phase of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the recent conclusion of three Phase II instruments in the areas of competition policy, investment, and intellectual property rights are excellent achievements toward the realisation of the dream of the AfricanUnion’s Founders. However, these tremendous steps seem to have been overshadowed by global geopolitical tensions, the rising cost of living, and the ensuing cascade of sovereign debt crises in a post-pandemic recovery world.

On May 2-5, 2023, two of our Editors attended the workshop entitled Trade and Climate Action: Shifting the Paradigm for a Just Transition and Sustainable Development in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Eighth Biennial Global Conference of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) will take place on 12-14 July 2023 in Bogotá (Colombia), co-hosted by and in collaboration with Universidad Externado de Colombia and Universidad del Rosario Colombia.

The European Law Students' Association (ELSA) is issuing the Call for the Host of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law, with the technical support of the World Trade Organization. We are looking for institutions to host Regional Rounds in Africa, the Americas, and Asia in the Spring of 2024.
