Moot Court Competition

The European Law Students' Association (ELSA) is issuing the Call for the Host of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition on WTO law, with the technical support of the World Trade Organization. We are looking for institutions to host Regional Rounds in Africa, the Americas, and Asia in the Spring of 2024.

Over the years, individual and institutional donors have supported the African Round, making it accessible to students who otherwise would not afford to participate. This year, we hope as much financial support as possible can be offered to ensure that all the students who have registered are able to participate.

The John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition is a global competition organised by the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) with technical support from the World Trade Organization (WTO). It simulates a hearing of the WTO dispute settlement system, intending to enhance the knowledge of international trade law and WTO dispute settlement procedures and enhance the capacity for meaningful engagement in multilateral trade in the long term.

This blog post highlights the International Law encounter at WBNUJS for the undergraduate programme in addition to the incidental confrontations with International Law for students and my reflections of the same.

Supporting moot court competition through funding initiatives is one way to offer support. Another way is to offer knowledge and expertise on substantive law as well as presentation skills.
